THE FARM.
Our ‘awa farm is located in Kaukamoli o Ka’apahu o Hāmākua o Moku o Keawe o Ko Hawai’i Pae ‘Āina, in the Kingdom of the Hawaiian Islands.
It is here where we are rooted, where we practice our traditional ways, and carry the stories of genealogy, both of our own and that of the ‘awa plants we love. We can trace the roots of our ‘awa to their origins, and the majority of the plants we care for are Hawaiian varieties.
The ‘awa is a gift and a teacher. We hold so much respect and love for this ceremonial medicine and always expect to treat the ‘awa from planting until harvesting as such: a sacred gift, a cultural link, a natural medicine, and a ceremonial offering.
OUR VALUES.
On the Farm, we practice our traditional ways, meaning that we naturally practice organic growing methods and we prioritize developing our relationship to the land, the water sources, the plants, our place, and the people of our community. Our cultural values are in alignment with sustainable living, the revitalization of Hawaiian rights, and the sovereignty of the next generations.
We seek to return the health of the land, people, and resources that have been described to us through ancient Hawaiian history, so that our descendants can thrive in their environment. We turn to the ‘āina to strengthen our relationship to that which feeds us, to keep the connection strong, to heal the land, to make it prosper, and for the land to heal us in return.
The Hawaiian healing principles are within our actions and our values. We embrace these values from planting to harvesting and beyond, so that we can appreciate and return to the traditions that characterize our people and culture as among some of the most productive, most innovative, and healthiest in the world.
